City descritpion
The cityscape of Sydney is characterized by unique sights such as the Opera House and the Harbor Bridge, milelong beaches and a mixture of historic quarters and modern business districts. In the vicinity, numerous national parks such as the Blue Mountains are worth a visit.
Opera House
The impressive building which contains several theaters and concert halls was designed by the Danish architect Jørn Utzon in the second part of the 20th century. Together with the Harbor Bridge it is now one of the landmarks of the city.
Blue Mountains
The mountain range owes its name to the essential oils of the eucalyptus trees which create a blue glimmer above the slopes when they evaporate. The landscape is characterized by deep canyons, thunderous waterfalls and fascinating rock formations such as the Three Sisters.
The Rocks
Being one of the oldest quarters of the city, "The Rocks" is famous for its colonial architecture and its numerous restaurants, pubs, shopping facilities and entertainment options.
